Over 100 Scouts and around 50 Leaders and helpers took part in the Annual District Scout Camp held at Fox Coverts Scout Campsite.
The weekend organised by the Hinckley District Team was a great success. After months of planning and meticulous organisation the camp ticked all the boxes and inspired the Youth members to learn new skills and take part in new experiences.
The weekend started with the arrival over 100 cars delivering excited Scouts for an adventurous weekend. Friday evening saw tents pitched and kit inspections.
Saturday began with an opening ceremony and the usual rules and regulations speech. Then the fun began. A whole weekend of Archery, Crate Stacking, Climbing, Orienteering, Football, Camp Craft, Camp Skills, Sumo Suits, Skate Boarding, Abseiling, Slime Slide and activity games. There were also a range of new activities running this year. Guitar Hero – which was a great success and an off site activity “Carting”. The Carting was by far the highlight of the weekend. Every youth member had a go and for many it was the first time they had ever had the chance to drive a go kart. Some were better than others!.
A very entertaining Camp Fire led the evening entertainment with an open air film closing the very long day.
Sunday saw the youth members enjoying the same activities with the added bonus of a closing ceremony and Disco and an indoor film – which ALL managed to stay awake for. The campsite fell silent at a very early midnight on Sunday evening. A first I think for a Scout Camp…….
An extremely well run weekend for Hinckley Scouting and another great experience for the youth members involved.
